Biography
SHELVES is an indie rock band from Singapore.
They find solace in the cathartic arms of heartfelt power pop songs that promise the aching melodies reminiscent of Teenage Fanclub, delivered with the urgency of Weezer and insouciance of Pavement.
SHELVES released its self-titled debut album on vinyl in early 2012 to critical acclaim. Its brand of power pop, with chunky guitars over stuck-in-your-head melodies, has been remixed by Joe Ng (Padres, Beat!) and Evan Tan (The Observatory, Opposition Party).
“Singapore’s hardest working power pop band” – The Business Times
“Crisp distillation of early 1990s scuzzy-fuzzy American collegiate rock and feel-good sentiments.” – The Straits Times
“So filled to the brim with superior tunes that it’s almost criminal that a songwriting talent like Noel Yeo still remains an obscure commodity.” – Power of Pop
“The songwriting is stellar, the production is pristine, and the songs are memorable. What more could anyone want?” – TODAY
