We started the session with the two new songs, which probably wasn’t the best idea. It’s not the most fun thing to do when you haven’t played together in six weeks. (Or more.) So we switched to something we could all play. First song started out fine. Second had a couple of forgotten chords and missed beats. Third was laughably bad. Fourth we couldn’t even get to the end. So we went back to the new songs, spending particular effort on “It’s Always Summer.” Still a lot of work to be done, but the sentiments were right.
Photograph is taken at 3FX on Hong Kong Street. There is only one room for jam sessions, but it is relatively large. The quality of equipment isn’t too bad. Probably the best you could get in the CBD area. (Used to be Backbeat but they moved.) What most sets this venue apart from the others, however, is the climb: up steep flights of stairs to the studio on the 4th floor.
